Tusculum House restoration program
Engaged by the Australian Institute of Architects to undertake a comprehensive review of their state heritage-listed building, with the goal of developing a strategic framework for its restoration.
This work forms part of the Institute’s preparations for the Centenary celebrations in 2029, ensuring the building’s cultural and architectural significance is preserved for the next generation.
The first stage of works included remedial works to the sandstone foundation and basement walls, moisture-affected rendered and painted walls, and blocked air drains.
In parallel, we developed designs for the renewal of the Australian Institute of Architects’ ground floor office space. The aim was to create a professional and welcoming public interface while improving the efficiency of the workplace.
The design maximises access to natural light from the existing windows and delivers a refined palette of new finishes, including specification of streamlined furnishings, carpet, paintwork, and a bespoke reception desk.
